Invitation for Feedback
We are currently updating our Child Protection Procedures to the most recent version. As part of the annual review of our Child Safeguarding Statement, we invite feedback, observations and suggestions from members of our school community. Any comments that may help us enhance our safeguarding practices, improve communication, or strengthen the protection and welfare of children are greatly appreciated and will be carefully considered as part of the review process. Awareness of the Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment
Our Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment, which includes details of potential safeguarding risks and the measures in place to manage them, is displayed prominently near the school’s main entrance. The document is also available to parents and guardians through email communication and on the school website. There is a child-friendly version of the policy in every classroom throughout the school.
As part of our annual review, we encourage all members of the school community to familiarise themselves with these important safeguarding documents and the procedures that support the safety and wellbeing of all children in our care.
Awareness of the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) and Trusted Adults
The school’s Designated Liaison Person (DLP) is School Principal, Darragh Roe. The DLP is the member of staff responsible for receiving and responding to child protection and welfare concerns in accordance with national child safeguarding procedures. Parents, guardians, staff and pupils may also contact the DLP with any questions relating to the school’s Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment.
Through the SPHE curriculum, children learn about the importance of trusted adults and are encouraged to identify people they can talk to if they are worried, upset or concerned about their safety or wellbeing. We recognise the important role parents and guardians play in reinforcing these messages at home and in helping children understand who they can turn to for support.
Review of Risks in the School
The school offers a wide range of activities throughout the school year. As part of our commitment to safeguarding, we regularly review all school activities and identify any potential risks to children. Appropriate measures and procedures are then put in place to minimise these risks and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils.
These identified risks and the corresponding control measures are documented within the school’s Risk Assessment, which forms part of the Child Safeguarding Statement. This review process helps ensure that our safeguarding practices remain effective, relevant and responsive to the needs of our school community.
We value the perspectives of parents, guardians and other stakeholders and welcome suggestions that may help us further strengthen the safety of school activities and procedures.
