Halloween 2018

This is the Fifth Annual Pumpkin Festival at Ard Rí. Every year each family enters a pumpkin. This is a family project and parents and children are encouraged to work together in planning their entry, purchasing the pumpkin and material required, constructing the piece and finally submitting their entry on the morning of the festival. This all started five years ago with only one class entering and this year we had over 100 entries “A clear focus on community building is a corner-stone of school life at Community National Schools. The Pumpkin Festival is just one community event we run at the school. It is great to see families coming together on a creative project. Some of these have been months in the making. It’s not only for the children. On the day of the festival, parents are chatting together, they’re getting to know one another and this binds the community. The buzz is unreal.” Darragh Roe- Principal This Year’s...

We were delighted to make a donation of €266 to help the centre in continuing to provide support for this vulnerable native...

The children at Ard Rí Community National School were delighted to welcome Peter Boland and Claire Whyte on Wednesday 11.05.2017. ‘This month the boys and girls are all learning about water safety in class so it was great to have the guys from Meath River Rescue in to really bring it to life for them’ said Junior Infant teacher Maria Bradley O’Connor. The children were fascinated with the rib Peter brought down. ‘My favourite part of the job is coming to schools and teaching the children about river safety’ said Peter who is a diver with the voluntary organisation, ‘I hope that from this they will be more careful around water and in years to come they might even get involved with the Rescue Team’  Everyone at Ard Rí Community National School would like to thank Peter and Claire for giving up their time to teach the children about this very special community...

Holi 2017 at Ard Rí Community National School

We laughed, shared food and celebrated our diversity together… On Friday 24.03.2017 the Ard Rí CNS community came together to celebrate the Hindu Holi Festival. Every year the community holds a different cultural celebration. The staff worked in partnership with the Indian families whose children attend the school and the most important aspects of Hinduism and Indian life were decided upon to teach the children. During the week the children learned about India in class through story, poems, research projects and the preparation of displays. On Thursday each class enjoyed yoga workshops.             On Friday the Parent Association and Indian families provided Indian food and we were joined by our guest of honor Swami Purnananda. The whole community came together and Swami Purnananda spoke about the value of a life, how each day is important and how special each individual life is. Children then took part in the Colour Ceremony and we spread coloured powder to celebrate the coming of spring and the friendship and love that we share together....
